Q: Are there any other ports for SMTP other than port 25?
Posted by - NA - on 05 Jan 2009 1:30 PM

A: The port you use for your SMTP depends on what ISP you use. SmarttNet's Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server uses port number 25 and 587. Other ISP's may also use this port. However, in some cases various ports are blocked internally by ISP's. For example, Shaw blocks port 25 thus preventing SmarttNet email users from sending messages using smtp.smartt.com while on the Shaw Internet network.

Please setĀ up email software on your PC to use port number 587 for sending email instead of port 25 (default setting).
