Q: There is a lightning symbol beside my inbox in my Mac Mail program, what does it mean?

A: The lightning symbol (and in some versions of mac mail a triangle with an exclamation mark) indicates there is an error being generated by one of your email accounts. As pictured below the symbol is found next to your inbox in the left menu bar:


In order to view the error message simply click on the symbol. The following alert message will appear:

Click on "Take all accounts online" to resolve the issue. If this does not change the status on your inbox first confirm you are connected to the internet and next confirm that you have the correct incoming mail server information. You can do this by clicking on the Mail menu and selecting preferences. If the information is correct and the problem persists with the following error message please contact our support department at 604-473-9700:
