A: To enable or disable your Windows XP firewall follow the brief instructions provided below. Please note that by disabling your windows firewall you become more vulnerable to attacks. If you decide to disable your firewall please do so ensuring that you have another mechanism active to protect your computer (for example third-party firewall or router or an anti-virus software.

To disable:
  1. Click Start and select Run.
  2. Type in Firewall.cpl and then click Ok.
  3. Select the General tab and click 'Off (not recommended)' then click Ok.
To enable your firewall follow the same procedure listed above but select 'On (recommended)' instead.
