Smartt Plesk Onyx User Guide

Welcome to Smartt’s new Plesk Onyx shared hosting platform!  As you start using your new account, please refer to this document for guidance on various tasks you can perform – if you do not find what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us at with your questions.

The Plesk Hosting Platform

Plesk is a robust customer-oriented management platform that puts more power in the hands of the user to manage and maintain their websites.  Many of the tasks that used to require contacting technical support are now available for you to access.

Your Login Information

As part of your account setup, you have been provided with the following information: Your Plesk username and password, and if you already have a domain provisioned, your FTP username and password for that site (if you have multiple websites, you will get a separate FTP user for each site)

Logging into Plesk

To log into your Control Panel, please go to and log in with your Plesk username and password (do not use your FTP username – this will not work).

Managing your Account

After logging into Plesk, you will see a screen with a menu on the left, and your main window in the middle – to manage your accounts, please choose an option on the left:

Websites and Domains

This is to manage features and settings related specifically to your websites (FTP, SSL certificates, etc)

Plesk offers applications such as Wordpress, Drupal, and other free and commercial products that you can install to your account.  You can manage these here.

This provides you with access to your website’s files and logs without requiring FTP access.

If your website requires an MS SQL or MySQL database, you can manage these here.

This page allows you to view your website’s access logs in a graphical format

If you want to grant access to your Plesk panel (for example, to a website developer), this can be granted here.

This page shows you information about your account and allows you to make changes to your Plesk contact information.

More Information – Plesk Customer Guide

Plesk has provided an online reference for their software, which can be found here:

This will give you a more in-depth reference to the Plesk control panel, and how to perform more advanced configuration.
