Amazon will now sell seven of Conde Nast’s digital and print magazines on its website, says an article by Mashable. The eCommerce store will handle the sales and shipment of Vanity Fair, Vogue, Wired, Lucky, Glamour, Golf Digest and Bon Appetit. Amazon will also direct readers to its own page when readers try to buy or renew magazines on Conde Nast’s website.
Amazon’s new partnership with Conde Nast further represents the latest trend in offline publishers partnering with digital companies. With digital replica consumption doubled compared to last year, digital publications continue to gain popularity amongst today’s readers. This forces traditional media companies to ally with digital platforms such as Amazon to find new distribution channels to boost circulation. Without such alliances, it will become increasingly difficult for magazines and newspapers to get their publications into the hands of readers.
