Facebook announces Graph Search
The internet is buzzing this morning over Facebook's newly unveiled Graph Search feature. Unlike Google, Graph Search isn't web search but rather indexes users' publicly available Facebook information to provide answers to precise queries. Facebook hasn't announced plans to monetize the feature, but commentators expect to see search advertising options in the near future.
Although Zuckerberg is keeping mum about monetization for the time being, Graph Search has obvious potential to create exciting new options for search marketers. It will allow ads to be highly targeted based on consumer data and intent. Marketers should keep an eye out for new options from Facebook in the coming months, and get ready to make changes to their search marketing plans this year.
