Facebook Pulls a Twitter, Launches Hashtags
Facebook announced on June 12th that it has implemented hashtag functionality to enhance engagement in conversations as well as to facilitate information sharing. Although Twitter, Instagram, and Google+ users may already be familiar with the concept of hashtags, Facebook’s iteration of this tool takes tagging one step further: by linking your Pages with your other social media profiles, Facebook can identify these external hashtags and “make them clickable and searchable” across its platform.
Facebook’s announcement draws attention to the ever growing significance of conversation and interaction. By engaging with other individuals, your audience can share their insights and form a more meaningful interpretation of your information. As a business or brand, messaging and content are no doubt two focal pieces of your strategy and campaign, but what happens after your audience receives your information?
