Mobile commerce sales in the U.S. are expected to surpass $25 billion by the end of 2013. The primary drive for the growth is consumers using their mobile devices for more advanced functions such as digital commerce transactions. The majority of these purchases occur on smartphones while tablets receive fewer but larger purchase orders.
Mobile commerce will likely continue to blossom with the adaption of wearable devices such as Google Glass and Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch. These wearable devices are highly convenient and can deliver an immersive online shopping experience that consumers have long-waited for. These devices can also enable businesses to target consumers with suitable, captivating ads to increase mobile conversion rates. With these devices, it is likely that mobile commerce will soon transform into a field where businesses can convert consumers into buyers at any second of the day.
