Procter & Gamble Co. was recently reported for spending 35% of its massive marketing budget on digital. The global packaged-goods company spent up to $1.7 billion last year on digital ads, with a majority of its digital expenses in search, social, online video, and mobile advertising.
The rapidly growing digital advertising market is expected to reach $185.4 billion by 2017, making it the second largest advertising medium worldwide. A key reason for this surge is the forecasted growth of digital usage. It’s expected that by 2017, almost one out of two people will have a smartphone, and nearly one-fourth of the world population will be Facebook users. These mind blowing figures have certainly influenced companies such as P&G to shift their budgets towards digital marketing.
